In partnership with Stratford Ecological Center and K&J Farms we offer intermediate beekeeping classes to those with one year of experience or more. Classes are held in two locations - Wolf Creek Trading Company in Copley, OH (near Akron) and Statford Ecological Center In Delaware, OH (about 1/2 an hour north of Columbus). FINDING THE QUEEN
Finding the queen is a fundamental skill in beekeeping. This workshop is designed to teach the skills, techniques, and protocols needed to become fast and efficient at finding the queen.

SPLITS AND NUCS
Splitting a hive can be a great way to increase the number of hives, help manage swarming, or make a few nucs for sale. This workshop focuses on proven ways to make healthy, vigorous splits that will quickly lead to strong, established colonies.

Controlling pests is essential to successful beekeeping, and varroa and small hive beetle are the two most important and common pests that beekeepers face. This workshop illustrates how a better understanding of pest biology and their relationship to bees can be used to develop effective management practices and evaluate control techniques.
